God sent me before you . . . to save your lives by a great deliverance.
Joseph was speaking to his brothers here after having been separated from them for something like 20 years. He didn’t know it, but what he said was prophetic of what the Lord Jesus would do at Calvary. Jesus has indeed saved our lives by a great deliverance. He gave His life so that we could live. He shed His blood to wash our sins away. He was separated from God so that we could be in God’s presence forever. What a deliverance we enjoy. What a Deliverer we have.
