Listen from:
Dominica, a beautiful, mountainous island in the Caribbean with a population of 71,000, and covering 289 square miles, is not only called the nature island, but also the "'and of many rivers." In fact, while visiting that island I learned that it is reputed to have 365, rivers, tributaries, streams, creeks, etc. That is one for every day of the year. It made me think of how the Word of God is refreshment for every day of the year as well. In Psalm 42:1, we read: "As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after Thee."
The Lord, when talking to the woman at Sychar's well, in John 4:13, 14, said: "whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that 1 shall give him shall never thirst." In Song of Solomon 5:1, we are invited: "O friends; drink, yea, drink abundantly."
Have you had a drink from the Living Word of God today? If not you are a thirsty Christian. And if you are a thirsty Christian your soul is parched and you are spiritually dehydrated. What a sad condition to be in when there is so much refreshment available on a daily basis. Stop now and take a drink of "cold waters to a thirsty soul." Proverbs 25:25.
King David said, "My soul thirsteth after Thee." Psalm 143:6. A thirsty person seeks to have his thirst Quenched. Has your spiritual thirst been Quenched today?
Despite the fact that Dominica has such abundance of water, I could not seem to Quench my thirst, no matter what I drank. It was hot, and tropically humid, and I drank and drank and drank. And yet, I was sooooooooooooo ... ..thirsty.
However, the "living water" satisfies our thirst completely, not just for a moment but for eternity. And more than that, it is free. Every time I wanted a drink I had to pay for it. But, the Lord Jesus says: "I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely." Revelation 21:6
Learn to drink from the Word of God every single day...yes, more than just once a day. You don't take a glass of water in the morning and expect it to last all day. Discipline yourself to drink, and drink, and drink...again, and again, and again!
"And Thou shalt make them drink of the river of Thy pleasures."
Psalm 36:8
He, everyone that thirsts,
Come, drink a full supply
Christ is the only source,
To Quench and satisfy.
Come, come ye souls,
Who thirsty, be,
And drink of living waters free,
Yes, drink and drink abundantly.
