More Than A Hope<\/div><\/div>\nWhen the things of God are considered, doubts, objections, and arguments characterize people\u2019s discussions. \u201cHath God said\u201d was Satan\u2019s question in the garden of Eden, and he is skilled at suggesting this same question to the minds of people today.
\nMartin Luther, in one of his many conflicts with the devil, was asked by the arch-enemy if he felt his sins were forgiven.
\n\u201cNo,\u201d said the great reformer, \u201cI don\u2019t feel that they are forgiven, but I know they are, because God says so in His Word.\u201d
\nThe Apostle Paul did not say, \u201cBelieve on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt feel saved,\u201d but, \u201cBelieve on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.\u201d
\nNo one can feel that his sins are forgiven. Ask a man whose debt has been paid by his brother, \u201cDo you feel that your debt is paid?\u201d
\n\u201cNo,\u201d is the honest reply. \u201cI don\u2019t feel that it is paid; I know it is paid.\u201d
\nYou, too, must first believe in God\u2019s love to you as revealed at the cross of Calvary, and then you will feel happy, because you will know that you are saved.
\nAnd now let me ask you: Is your soul safe for eternity? You say, \u201cI hope so.\u201d But, dear friends, hoping is not enough; you need to be certain about this!
\nListen to what God says, and have peace in your heart: \u201cHe that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life\u201d (John 5:24).
