Laying aside . . . all evil speakings.
Let all . . . evil speaking, be put away from you.
Speaking evil of someone else (often called character assassination) is something that should be foreign to every child of God. We should always speak well of others, or not speak about them at all. There is no profit in making someone else look bad. All we are doing is trying to make ourselves look good. Let’s be more and more like the Lord Jesus who always spoke kindly to others. We never read of Him ever saying anything derogatory about His disciples. Watch your tongue.
