MAT 19:21-22²¹Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. ²²But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. (Matthew 19:21‑22)

Jesus said . . . Come and follow Me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

What an unhappy person he must have been. He heard an invitation from the Lord Jesus to follow Him, and then he turned away because he didn’t want to give up his earthly wealth. When Matthew was called by Jesus, he left everything to follow Him. Young Christian, beware of worldly possessions. They can draw you away from the Lord. The attraction of possessions is very subtle and very strong. Follow the Lord Jesus. A great future lies ahead for you.
