I have read of the Savior's love,
And a wonderful love it must be;
But did He come down from above,
Out of love and compassion for me?
I've heard how He suffer'd and bled,
How He languish'd and died on the tree;
But then is it anywhere said
That He languish'd and suffer'd for me?
I've been told of a heaven on high,
Which the children of God soon will see;
But is there a place in the sky
Made ready and furnish'd for me?
Oh, yes! For His love is as wide
And as deep as the fathomless sea;
And love such as this will provide
Even blessings eternal for me!
