WE are told in the Word to let our light so shine before men, that they may see our good works, and glorify our Father which is in heaven. (
Matt. 5:16

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:16)
) Too often we reverse this precept, and let our works shine that our light may be seen to our own glory. Hence the danger of speaking or writing about our own activities. The intention may be good, but it is seldom done without leading -even if unconsciously- to the exaltation of self. If, on the other hand, we are careful to let our light shine before men, our works, like our blessed Lord, cannot be hid.
