Every branch that beareth fruit, He purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
John 15:2
Each spring I attempt to prune off the sucker shoots that have grown on my fruit trees during the previous year. Some of them grow two feet in one season. If left on the trees they would drain the trees so that the fruit would be smaller and less of a crop than it could be. In spiritual things it’s much the same, only God is the pruner and we are the trees. He wants the best crop that He can get. So He prunes off the extra things that have grown into our lives.
