Now the end of the commandment is [love] out of  .  .  .  a good conscience.
The Jewish religion had one major limitation. Their sacrifices only appeased the conscience for a while. Then the process had to be done all over again. But as a Christian we have a good conscience before God because our sins were dealt with when Jesus died. Never again will the question of our sins be brought up. So the commandment is set aside and replaced by something far better - love out of a good conscience. As the hymn says, “Our conscience has peace that can never fail.”
