Moreover [a bishop] must have a GOOD REPORT of them which are without.
In order to qualify for a bishop’s position, unsaved people must be able to say nothing but good things about this person’s character and behavior. Put this together with the verse we considered yesterday and what does Scripture teach us? In order to serve in the Church in this special capacity, a man must have the respect of Christians and non-Christians alike. He must act the same before Christians as he does before the world and vice versa.
