For so large a vessel it must have been a strong wood, but “gopher” is the Hebrew word and it is not known to what it refers (Gen. 6:1414Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. (Genesis 6:14)).
