The book of Numbers presents God’s provision for the difficult journey through a wilderness on our way to His home. God’s people were troubled by rebellion, corruption, discouragement, thirst and the attacks of enemies. Later on they were seduced by the plan of corrupt enemies and by the beauty of a land outside their assigned portion.
Throughout the whole journey the Lord proves His faithfulness and grace. He sends trials to awaken His people and provides water from the rock, a remedy for fiery serpents and cities of refuge. There’s even a miracle of grace in a budding rod in response to open rebellion.
What we learn of our God will make our hearts rejoice in His grace provided for our journey. No true believer can thoughtfully consider the book of Numbers without coming away with their heart refreshed by considering their great and gracious God.
