New
Testament we read that some came to
Jerusalem
to
worship
and desired to see
Jesus
; but He was then just about to be offered up (
John 12:20-24

And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:

The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.

Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.

And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. (John 12:20‑24)
). The Greeks were an intellectual people and naturally sought after wisdom; and Christ crucified was unto them foolishness. How could they naturally think of having
faith
in a
man
crucified with malefactors? But to the called ones Christ became the
power
and wisdom of
God

1 Cor. 1:22-24

For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. (1 Corinthians 1:22‑24)

’s evangelizing among them “great multitudes” believed, and lost their proud nationality in Christ (
Acts 14:1
