276. Guide Us, O Thou Gracious Savior

8,7.

Guide us, O Thou gracious Savior,

Pilgrims through this barren land;

We are weak, but Thou art mighty;

Hold us with Thy powerful hand.

Bread of heaven!

Feed us now and evermore.
“Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul.” (1 Peter 2:11)
“<<A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.>> O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.” (Psalm 63:1)
“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:41)
“And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power.” (Ephesians 1:19)
“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:28)
“I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” (John 6:51)

While we tread this vale of sorrow,

May we in Thy love abide:

Keep us ever, gracious Savior,

Cleaving closely to Thy side,

Still relying

On the Father’s changeless love.
“For all his days are sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart taketh not rest in the night. This is also vanity.” (Ecclesiastes 2:23)
“As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.” (John 15:9-10)
“If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” (1 Peter 2:3)
“Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.” (Acts 11:23)
“The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” (Jeremiah 31:3)
“For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” (Malachi 3:6)

Savior, come, we long to see Thee,

Long to dwell with Thee above,

And to know in full communion

All the sweetness of Thy love.

Come, Lord Jesus,

Take Thy waiting people home.
“He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” (Revelation 22:20)
“So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 1:7)
