 The fall of the Assyrian kingdom was a grave and alarming event: so should Egypt and all others who proudly resisted Jehovah’s will and word—the more strikingly shown when His own people were going to be put down among the rest. (Habakkuk 1 by W. Kelly)
 We know that the Apostle quotes this passage when preaching the gospel at Antioch. There he announced the grace of God that proclaims forgiveness through Christ, and that all that believe are justified from all things. Then immediately he quotes the prophet Habakkuk to warn them against despising the work of grace through unbelief, as their forefathers had despised the work of government through unbelief (Acts 13:41).  Acts 13:38-41 {v.5-10} God cannot be indifferent to evil. When His people have fallen into a low moral condition, God must either give them up or deal with them in chastening.
