60*. Hark! the Voice of Jesus Calling
8,7.
by A. Midlane
Hark! the voice of Jesus calling —
"Come, ye laden, come to Me;
I have rest and peace to offer,
Rest, thou laboring one, for thee:
Take it now and happy be."
“Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
“(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succored thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)” (2 Corinthians 6:2)
Yes; though high in heavenly glory,
Still the Savior calls to thee;
Faith can hear His gracious accents —
"Come, ye laden, come to Me;
Take it now and happy be."
“He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.” (Proverbs 16:20)
Soon that voice will cease its calling,
Now it speaks, and speaks to thee:
Sinner, heed the gracious message —
To the blood for refuge flee:
Take it now and happy be."
“Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord.” (Psalm 144:15)
Life is found alone in Jesus,
Only there ’tis offered thee —
Offered without price or money,
’Tis the gift of God sent free,
Take it now and happy be."
“Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.” (Isaiah 55:1)
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
“I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.” (Psalm 116:13)
“<<A Psalm of David, Maschil.>> Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.” (Psalm 32:1-2)
