Sometimes people think that God requires them to love Him in order to be saved. They begin to search their hearts, and they cannot find there one particle of love to Him. If we are not to be saved till we love Him, we will never be saved at all!
The wonderful truth is, HE LOVES US. “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:1010Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 4:10)).
Have you been trying to love God in order to be saved? Give it up! It is true that you ought to love Him, but so long as you are unsaved you cannot do so. Accept the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, meditate on His love to you, and you will be able to say, “We love Him, because He first loved us” (1 John 4:1919We love him, because he first loved us. (1 John 4:19)).
