And Moses looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
Moses here has tremendous energy for God, but it is wrongly directed! He sins by murdering a man, and hides him in the sand. But the Word of God says, “Be sure your sin will find you out,” and it did! Verse 14 tells us that his fellow Jews saw him. And God sees everything that we do.
