4*. His Be "the Victor's Name,"

S.M.
by S.W. Gandy
1
His be "the Victor’s name,"

Who fought the fight alone;

Triumphant saints no honor claim,

His conquest was their own.
“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil. And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” (Hebrews 2:14-15)
“Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savor of his knowledge by us in every place.” (2 Corinthians 2:14)
2
By weakness and defeat,

He won the meed and crown;

Trod all our foes beneath His feet

By being trodden down.
3
Bless, bless the Conqueror slain,

Slain in His victory;

Who lived, who died, who lives again —

For thee, His church, for thee!
“I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.” (Revelation 1:18)
“Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.” (Hebrews 7:25)
“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it. That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” (Ephesians 5:25-27)
