And [Abraham] took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them  .  .  .  and they did eat.
Abraham had some unexpected (and unannounced) visitors. As quickly as he could, he killed and prepared a calf, and he got Sarah to make some rolls. He put a good meal together and gave it to the angelic visitors. Four times in three verses words like “hasted” and “quickly” are used. It’s good to be hospitable - even though it may be much more convenient not to be. As it says in the New Testament, “For thereby many have entertained angels unawares.”
