"I Have Given up All for Jesus."

Hark, what means that heavenly music,
Sounding sweetly on mine ear?
Can it be that I am dying?
Heaven seems so very near.
Come, dear mother, come yet nearer,
Kiss your dying soldier boy,
Jesus cans me, I must answer,
But I’m, not afraid to die.
The heavenly music’s pealing,
And the gates are open wide,
I will wait for you, dear mother,
Over on the other side.
You have often prayed, dear mother,
For your loved and darling child,
And your heart was near to breaking,
By his conduct rough and wild.
But at last the loving Saviour
Met your wayward, wandering boy,
Now He calls and I must answer,
But I’m not afraid to die.
Since I joined the army, mother,
In the battle I’ve been true,
And though tried by strong temptation,
My dear Lord has brought me through.
Now I come to Jordan’s river,
With the angels standing by,
Take me, Jesus, I’m your soldier boy,
And I’m not afraid to die.
