A province on the east of the upper Jordan of which Herod Philip was made tetrarch (Luke 3:1). Its boundaries cannot be well defined, but it reached toward Damascus and embraced the southern slopes of Anti-Lebanon. Its name is derived from JETUR, son of Ishmael (Gen. 25:15). See map under GALILEE.
