Capital of Hebrew monarchy and of kingdom of Judah, 24 miles west of Jordan and 37 east of the Mediterranean. “Salem” (Psa. 76:22In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion. (Psalm 76:2)), and perhaps (Gen. 14:1818And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.
