Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign  .  .  .  and he did  .  .  .  right in the sight of the Lord.
Eight is very young to be the king of a country. But eight is not too young to make a decision to follow the Lord. (Samuel was another young boy who gave his life to God’s service.) It says in our chapter that “in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young [16], he began to seek after the God of David his father.” When he was 20, he began to remove the idol-worshipping centers. When he was 26 years old, he sent men to repair the broken-down temple. See what a difference one person can make? And he started when he was young.
