About This Product
There’s so much junk out there to occupy our young people’s time and attention. Why not get them reading these fascinating tales from Africa? The writing will grab them on page one and hold them throughout the 960 pages of fast paced stories. Jungle Doctor’s African Adventures #1 provides many other stories that don’t need to be read first to enjoy this second set. Friends from Africa say little has changed in the culture since these stories were written. Best of all the young person will be exposed to people who turn to the Lord in every situation and an excellent gospel.
Last night I was reading Jungle Doctor Stings a Scorpion while my 6‑year-old leaned against me on the love seat. He’s already heard 7 of the 12 books in these to African Adventures series and loves to look at the pictures over my shoulder and ask questions. There’s action on every page which keeps him interested and I like being able to pause and go through the spiritual lessons. Last night we sympathized with Wendwa as she feared being sent back from the hospital to be married off for money to an unbeliever. That gives a great opportunity to teach scriptural principles long before he faces the tough situation. Meanwhile he enters in to the danger of the witchdoctor back in the village, the mean tribal chief and the eager and loving African orderly.
The guidance counselor at school won’t give a pitch for serving the Lord in another culture when he presents career options and college choices. You have the privilege of presenting the rigors and joys of the missionary calling in your home. Your son, daughter or grandchild may not be called to that work but they would certainly benefit from empathizing with those who are. Consider the tiring days, lack of many conveniences, need to teach and be taught by locals and the daily spiritual trials and joys while you read Jungle Doctor’s African Adventures #2.
