332. Just as I Was--Without One Plea
8,8,8,6.
by C. Elliott, 1841
Just as I was — without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bad’st me come to Thee,
“Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
Just as I was — poor, wretched, blind:
Sight, riches, healing of the mind,
Yea, all I need in Thee to find,
“Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.” (Revelation 3:17)
“This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.” (Psalm 34:6)

The fullness and the depth to prove,
Here for a season, then above —
