“Keep on praying, mother, and I am sure in God’s own time, I shall be with you all again.” This was written by a young soldier who at Glasgow had received one of Dr. Wreford’s Testaments. He had left his Bible at home, and so gladly welcomed the Testament to fit his pocket. He wrote further: “As I opened the. Testament last night, the first words I saw were: ‘Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, it shall be given you, and that encourages one, doesn’t it? Keep on praying, dear mother.”
Oh! dear readers, there is nothing so valuable as prayer, because real prayer is the Holy Spirit praying in us and through us. “What a blessed thing it is for people to pray for one another,” wrote a friend to me. “Mrs. S. does not write to me very often, but for years she has prayed every day for me. Isn’t that delightful? No one knows what I have gained by those earnest prayers; and now she is asking direction for my winter’s work.” Ah! my dear soldier friends, “Keep on praying” about, everything.
