In Scripture, reference is nearly always to the Hebrew civil, moral, and ceremonial law (Matt. 5:17¹⁷Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. (Matthew 5:17); John 1:17¹⁷For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. (John 1:17); Acts 25:8⁸While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all. (Acts 25:8)).
