There is some excellent instruction here from the scriptures on the relationships of life. This is not a manual for courtship and does have older typography. However it will help you to shine the spotlight of the Word of God first of all on your walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. If that relationship isn’t in its proper place, then every other relationship is in danger. For example, the disciples’ strife over who was the greatest in Luke 22 is used to show the need for a believer to put others first in every relationship of life. What an excellent foundation for marriage and family.
Following the foundation, Love and Marriage procedes to develop the Biblical role for a man in leadership and love and then for a woman in purity and submission. By taking up such questions as whether men should be “prophets, priests and kings” in their homes and submission as taught in the Scriptures, the reader is guided to the Word of God and away from the world’s wrong teaching. These chapters are well worth reading together for any couple. I’ve read them for myself with profit but would really benefit more reading and considering them together with my wife.
Many difficult topics are dealt with such as the relationship between children still at home with their parents. A godly walk in that area of responsibility before marriage can have a large impact on the marriage relationship later on. The author states, “Once again we have the lordship of Christ brought into it.
