David mourned for his son every day. . . . And . . . king David longed to go forth unto Absalom.
Absalom was a bad son. He was a troublemaker and caused a lot of tears for David, his father. After Absalom had caused his half brother to be killed, he ran for his life and in our verse we have David’s reaction. This is true love. Even though Absalom had hurt David, David still loved him. What a lesson for us!
