JER 37:17¹⁷Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the Lord? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon. (Jeremiah 37:17)

Zedekiah the king sent . . . and . . . asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the Lord? And Jeremiah said, There is.

Jeremiah 37:17¹⁷Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the Lord? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon. (Jeremiah 37:17)

Jeremiah had been falsely accused and thrown into a dungeon by those who didn’t want to hear what God had to say to them through the prophet. After a long time the king called for him and in a secret meeting asked if there was a message from the Lord. Jeremiah immediately told what would happen. This is just a little lesson that the true servant of God does not need to get down when things go wrong. Instead, maintain communion with the Lord and always be ready to speak His word in faithfulness.
