“Our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (2 Cor. 4:17).
Lord, thank You for my light affliction,
Which is for me Thy benediction;
Lord, work Thy will in my life today...
That Thy will in me be here to stay.
If I suffer with Thee, I will also reign,
While here Thy promises I claim;
To die to self, to wean from earth,
Spiritually follows my heavenly birth.
Yet what refreshments Thou dost provide:
Thy Holy Spirit, Thy Word, and prayer;
Soon Thou wilt claim Thy heavenly bride;
Thy face we’ll see, and we’ll know no care.
Let me now be subject to Thy will;
Let me trust though I don’t understand...
’Tis enough to wait this little while
In the hollow of Thy loving hand.
The God of all grace, who hath called us unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect [in obedience], stablish, strengthen, settle you. To Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen” (1 Peter 5:10-11).
