318. O Lamb of God, Still Keep Us

7,6.
by J.G. Deck
1
O Lamb of God, still keep us

Close to Thy piercèd side;

’Tis only there in safety

And peace we can abide;

With foes and snares around us,

And lusts and fears within,

The grace that sought and found us,

Alone can keep us clean.
“And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!” (John 1:36)
“But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.” (John 19:34)
“The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.” (Proverbs 21:31)
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)
“Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.” (Psalm 23:5)
“For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.” (2 Corinthians 7:5)
“What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?” (Luke 15:4)
2
’Tis only in Thee hiding

We feel ourselves secure;

Only in Thee abiding

The conflict can endure;

Thine arm the victory gaineth

O’er every hateful foe;

Thy love our hearts sustaineth,

In all their cares and woe.
3
Soon shall our eyes behold Thee

With rapture, face to face;

And, resting there in glory,

We’ll sing Thy power and grace:

Thy beauty, Lord, and glory,

The wonders of Thy love,

Shall be the endless story

Of all Thy saints above.
