One Faith

The word, faith, is used in two ways in Scripture. It is often used to designate the initial act of confidence and trust in the Savior, that brings with it the knowledge of salvation. It is also used to designate the sum total of Christian doctrine, those foundation truths we are called upon to believe, and which should mold and govern our conduct. The following Scriptures use it in the latter sense: " Stand fast in the faith." (1 Cor. 16: 13.) " Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith." (2 Cor. 13:55Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? (2 Corinthians 13:5).) " But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith." (Jude 33Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. (Jude 3).)
There is but one faith. We should refuse the accretions of men, the addition of creeds that limit the largeness of God's word, traditions that would neutralize the word of God. In the Holy Scriptures we have " The faith which was once delivered unto the saints." (Jude 33Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. (Jude 3).)
