MRS. Foster, a Christian lady of nearly eighty years, had for a long time been laid on a sick bed. She was cared for by her daughter and her granddaughter, who used to bring her breakfast on a tray every morning. Then she stayed in bed till about noon when her helpers came, and, with their assistance she was allowed to sit up for a while.
One morning, having finished her breakfast, the dear old lady felt stronger than she had for some time, and thought she would try to get up. To her surprise she was not only able to get up but managed to dress herself, too. Before long, her daughter heard the noise and hurried upstairs. She was completely surprised to find her mother all dressed and sitting in a chair.
Her mother smiled happily at her surprise, and then opened her mouth to speak. "ONLY THINK . . ." There was a sudden pause,—her lips closed, and she was gone.
What a message from the lips of someone just passing into eternity. Nobody knows what she was going to say, but I would ask you to read those words again. "ONLY THINK!"
"Oh, that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!" Deut. 32: 29.
