319. Our Sins Were Borne by Jesus

7,6.
by H. Bonar
1
Our sins were borne by Jesus,

The holy Lamb of God;

He took them all, and freed us

From that condemning load.

Our guilt was borne by Jesus,

Who washed the crimson stains

White in His blood most precious,

Till not a spot remains.
“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” (1 Peter 2:24)
“And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.” (Revelation 15:3-4)
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1)
“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)
“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” (Isaiah 1:18)
“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers.” (1 Peter 1:18)
“That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” (Ephesians 5:27)

Our wants are known to Jesus;

All fullness dwells in Him:

He healeth all diseases

Who did our souls redeem.

We tell our griefs to Jesus,

Our burdens and our cares

He from them all releases,

Who all our sorrow shares.
“Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.” (Matthew 6:8)
“For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell.” (Colossians 1:19)
“Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases. Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies.” (Psalm 103:3-4)
“And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.” (Matthew 14:12)
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
“Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” (Psalm 55:22)
“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15)
“Jesus wept.” (John 11:35)

We love the name of Jesus,

The Christ of God, the Lord;

Like fragrance on the breezes

His name is spread abroad.

We long to be with Jesus,

With all the ransomed throng,

To sing for aye His praises,

The one eternal song.
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11)
“And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.” (1 Corinthians 3:23)
“Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh.” (Romans 1:3)
“For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better.” (Philippians 1:23)
