(cattle). The Roman silver denarius, worth 15 to 17 cents. The Greek silver drachma was a corresponding coin (Matt. 20:2; 22:19-21²And when he had agreed with the laborers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. (Matthew 20:2)
¹⁹Show me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. ²⁰And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? ²¹They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's. (Matthew 22:19‑21); Mark 6:37³⁷He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?
