Persecution

They    .    .    .    ran upon [Stephen]    .    .    .    and cast him out    .    .    .    and stoned him.
Here’s another example of one who was willing to suffer persecution for the gospel’s sake. Stephen had preached a solid gospel and made the Jews so mad that they actually stoned him to death. His martyrdom was watched by Saul, who later, after he became a Christian, was renamed Paul. When he endured persecution, as we considered yesterday, I wonder if he thought back to this day when he gave consent to the death of Stephen. Are we willing to give our lives for the Lord, as Stephen did?
