A young man grew up in a village on the island of St. Vincent, West Indies. All the days of his boyhood he attended Sunday School, and gospel meetings on a weekly basis. However, as he passed through his teen years and into manhood, he knew that he was not saved. Although he was Quite familiar with the way of salvation he had never taken it to heart and received the Lord Jesus Christ as His own personal Savior. He was like many young people, and some who are not so young, just out for a good time and to live for self, but in his sins and heading for a lost eternity in Hell.
One day all that changed! He was walking down the street of a nearby community when he met another young man who was giving out gospel tracts. As they passed, a tract was thrust into his hand, and something compelled him to stop and read it. The Spirit of God was working, yea, had been working in the conscience and heart of that youth for some time. He stepped to the side of the road, read the gospel paper, was convicted and saved right there on the spot. At twenty-one years of age he, "passed from death unto life." 1 John 3:1414We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. (1 John 3:14). And all because someone took time to hand out gospel tracts on that hot, humid, tropical afternoon.
Today, this brother in Christ, is a faithful servant of God. Though many years have past since he was converted through the reading of a tract he still loves to recount the incident. And not only so, but everywhere he goes he has a bag of these "silent messengers" with him. He knows the value of such distribution.
Maybe you have given out tracts in the past but have become discouraged because you have never seen any fruit as a result. Don't give up! PERSEVERE! Only eternity will reveal the true results of such labor.
Here is a good verse to keep in mind: "In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good."
LEAVE THE RESULTS WITH THE LORD OF THE HARVEST!
HE HAS PROMISED TO BLESS HIS HOLY LIVING WORD!
Give out a tract,
Speak for the Lord,
Use the Scripture
The Spirit's sword.
Sow the "good seed,"
Who can tell,
A perishing soul,
May be saved from hell.
