Hezekiah received the letter   .   .   .   and read it   .   .   .   and spread it before the Lord.
Hezekiah didn’t like what he read in the letter he had just received, so he went into the house of the Lord and prayed to God, asking for His protection and care. Notice that he didn’t rush to call his friends first, but rather went to God. God’s answer to his prayer was, “I have heard  .  .  .  I will defend this city, to save it, for Mine own sake.” 1 Kings 19:20,3420And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee? (1 Kings 19:20). Of Israel’s enemies, 185,000 died that night. Do you think Hezekiah was glad that he had gone to the Lord about it? You can be sure he was.
