And Joseph’s master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were bound.
We feel desperately sorry for Joseph. But there’s a great lesson here for us to learn. No matter what the cost, we must be faithful to the Lord, true to Him, and never waver from the path of purity that He expects His people to walk in. He will take care of us, even though we may suffer loss in the eyes of the world. Already we can see God at work behind the scenes by Joseph being placed in the same prison where Pharaoh’s prisoners were kept. Sooner or later, Joseph would come into personal contact with the king. But in the meantime he is content to allow God to be in charge.
