Private S. R's Letter

“Dear Sir, —Would you kindly forward me one of your Testaments, as I have had a very lucky escape with the one had. Unfortunately, a piece of shell struck my right breast pocket, and it happened that it struck the top of my Testament; this must have turned the piece of shell, therefore it shattered my book. Everyone said it must have saved my life. 1 have been out here ever since the beginning, and have always carried one, so I am in great need of one just at the moment.”
