EZE 20:19-21¹⁹I am the Lord your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; ²⁰And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God. ²¹Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness. (Ezekiel 20:19‑21)

I am the Lord your God; walk in My statutes. . . . Notwithstanding the children rebelled against Me: they walked not in My statutes.

God had a real problem with Israel. He instructed them to walk in His ways and, in spite of their good promises, they always went the other way. The examples written in the Old Testament are for our learning that we may profit by them. The lesson here is that we could do exactly the same thing. God commands, we listen for a time and then turn away. Let us ask the Lord to help us to always listen to and obey His Word.
