Whither I go ye cannot come.
Jesus longed for companionship in His hour of sorrow; His feelings are expressed in the Psalms: “Lover and friend Thou hast put far from Me” and “I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.” However, He knew that they were not able: He said that they “cannot come.” He was that high priest entering alone into the holiest of all, offering the sacrifice of Himself for the sins of the people. Though His suffering is now over, He still looks for those who would associate themselves with His death. He says, “This do in remembrance of Me.”
