And He took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is My body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of Me.
The night for the Lord to be betrayed by one of His disciples had finally arrived. Not many days later Jesus would go back to heaven and they would not see Him again on this earth. So, in order for them to remember why He came, the Lord Jesus instituted something very simple. A loaf of bread would remind them of His body given in death on Calvary’s cross. Still today, so many years later, a loaf of bread reminds us that the Son of God died in order that we could go free.
