Rend your heart, and not your garments.
God wants reality. To repent on the outside, but not mean it on the inside, is not real repentance. We often cover up what we are really feeling by wearing an outer cover on our face that belies what is on the inside. Don’t forget that God sees our hearts and He knows what is really going on in there.
