Revelation 10

The rainbow is about promises. This mighty Angel is Jesus Christ. The little book is the promise of the Old Testament that Christ will defeat His enemies and set up His kingdom. With His left foot on the earth and His right foot in the sea, Jesus will show His supreme authority as He claims the whole world for His kingdom. He will reign as the Messiah of Israel.
God has not forgotten His people. The mighty Angel raises His hand to heaven to show He will soon honor that promise to Israel. It is a mystery why God has not punished the people who hate God and His people. Bad people think it is okay for them to do whatever sin they want. But it is not okay. God will wait no longer. The mystery of God will be finished. God will avenge His people.
There are more judgments to come, so John was told to prophesy again. He was told to take the little book about those judgments and to eat it. Why was it bitter to the belly and sweet to the mouth? To tell what God says about the future brings both joy and grief. It is sweet to know the Lord will have His way and be honored. It is sad to think of the judgments which must come upon all who refuse God and His rights. Be sure to tell your friends about God’s love and salvation. You do not want them to have to be judged and lost forever.
