That which is communicated by God to man, whether regarding
Himself,
as in the revelation of His will; or man, in showing his origin, state and destiny; or
heaven
and
future events,
as in the prophets and the book of the Revelation, emphatically so called because consisting almost exclusively of a fresh unfolding by God of the veil of the future. Revelation is occasionally used literally in its meaning for “showing forth”
