The reader will judge what is meant by "unmistakable fulfillment of prophecy" -consisting, as it did, of mere straws at which these deluded people clutched.
One, Charles Fitch, prepared a chart to illustrate the visions of Daniel and Revelation. This was considered as "... A fulfillment of the command given to Habakkuk." I should have thought that the command to the prophet to "write the vision and make it plain upon tables that he may run that readeth it" was fulfilled when he wrote the prophecy that bears his name, some 2,400 years before Charles Fitch came to prepare his chart. But, Mrs. White possesses no ordinary comprehension, as the reader will see.
The Lisbon earthquake was the fulfillment, they said, of Rev. 6:1212And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; (Revelation 6:12); a darkening of the sun and moon twenty-five years later, of Mark 13:2424But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, (Mark 13:24); whilst a great meteoric shower on November 13th, 1833, Mrs. White cooly tells us, constituted " The last of the signs... which were promised by the Savior as tokens of His second advent."
