Robert Smith.

Written by a Martyr named Robert Smith during the time of his imprisonment in Newgate. He was burned at Uxbridge, on the 8th of August, 1555: —
“Content thyself with patience,
With Christ to bear the cross of pain,
Who can and will thee recompense
A thousand-fold with joys again.
Let nothing cause thy heart to quail; —
Launch out the boat—haul up the sail—
Put from the shore,
And be thou sure thou shalt attain
Unto that port that shall remain
For evermore.”
